Desiree launches new label MMINO with ‘Intersexy’

South African producer Desiree has unveiled her latest musical offering, the ‘Intersexy’ EP. This release also marks the launch of her own record label, MMINO.

The ‘Intersexy’ EP features two tracks that expand Desiree’s signature sound while retaining her soulful essence. Her artistic journey is deeply intertwined with her identity as a Black intersex woman from South Africa. “I often find myself performing in spaces where individuals like me are underrepresented,” she reflects. “This comes with a profound sense of responsibility, as I know I’m representing diverse communities who support my work.”

MMINO, meaning “music” in Sepedi, marks a pivotal moment in Desiree’s career. Evolving from a 2023 party series to a full-fledged record label, MMINO aims to foster African electronic music. It has grown from local events into a platform celebrating diversity and artistic innovation.

The ‘Intersexy’ EP has already garnered support from industry tastemakers, including Rampa, Black Coffee, Shimza, Adriatique, and Mano Le Tough, among others.
