fabric London has announced the completion of a major upgrade to its BodyKinetic Dancefloor in Room 1. This enhancement completes an extensive renovation project celebrating the club’s 25th anniversary.
The BodyKinetic Dancefloor, pioneering tactile sound experiences since 1999, allows clubbers to feel music through subharmonic vibrations. Technical manager Matt Smith has modernized the system with Powersoft’s movers—replacing 450 original transducers with 36 more efficient units that deliver enhanced haptic feedback.
The new system enhances inclusivity by transforming sound into tactile vibrations, making the experience more accessible to people with hearing impairments. Through collaboration with Deaf Rave, fabric ensures optimal performance for the deaf community.
The upgraded floor enables a partnership with Mastery Quantum Sound, blending meditation and electronic music. This new residency transforms room 1 into a space for sound meditations and ambient experiences. Daniel Avery, Hannah Holland, and Flora Yin Wong will lead five events through June 2025.
This project has been realized through support from Powersoft, Quantum, Ajax Flooring, Sterling Groundwork, Deaf Rave, and the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Their collaboration ensures that fabric continues as a space where sound, innovation, and community unite.
