Audio-Technica unveils AT-MCD1 flagship moving coil cartridge

Hand-finished in Japan with a lab-grown diamond stylus-cantilever design.

Audio-Technica has revealed the AT-MCD1, a new flagship moving coil cartridge that builds on the technology developed for the company’s limited-edition 60th anniversary cartridge.

At the centre of the design is a unified stylus-cantilever constructed from a lab-grown diamond, a feature shared with the anniversary model. The cartridge body combines titanium and aluminium construction with an elastomer undercover intended to reduce unwanted high-frequency resonances.

Additional details include hand-crafted ion plating for improved durability and a mirror-like finish, while each unit is hand-finished in Japan and engraved with an individual serial number.

The AT-MCD1 is packaged in a solid cherry wood case and positioned as one of the company’s most premium audio products to date.
