Barry Can’t Swim has revealed his sophomore album ‘Loner’, set for release on July 11th, 2025 via Ninja Tune. The announcement arrives alongside his new club single ‘Different’.

The Edinburgh-born producer describes ‘Loner’ as his most personal work to date. “If my first album was a collage of all the music I loved and was inspired by growing up, then this album is the most authentic expression I could offer of myself and my life over the past year,” he reflects.

The album ranges from the Kali Uchis-sampled ‘Still Riding’ and club anthem ‘Chosen’ to more introspective moments in ‘Cars Pass By Like Childhood Sweethearts’. Opening track ‘The Person You’d Like to Be’ features a distorted conversation between Barry and a friend.

Building on his debut album ‘When Will We Land?,’ Barry Can’t Swim has received Mercury Prize and Brit Award nominations. Placed in BBC Sound of 2025’s top three, he has sold out Brixton Academy shows while performing at Glastonbury.
