Set against the striking backdrop of the Åland Islands, Kokong Festival returns from July 31st to August 1st, 2026, for another weekend celebrating experimental electronic and electroacoustic music inside the iconic Stallhagen Dome. Blending forward-thinking live performances, audiovisual works and community-driven programming, the independent event has quietly established itself as one of the Nordic region’s most distinctive gatherings for adventurous electronic music.
Curated by Ström Cultural Association, Kokong continues to champion both emerging local talent and internationally respected artists, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the creative scene across the Baltic archipelago. This year’s programme features performances from Nadia Struiwigh, Samuli Kemppi, Daniel Savio, Simone Ghetti, DJ Aleksi, Lauren Sarah Hayes, Yard One and Svenska Discokyrkan, alongside a diverse selection of Åland-based artists working across ambient, techno, experimental sound and interdisciplinary performance.
Rather than following the conventions of a typical electronic music festival, Kokong places equal emphasis on atmosphere, collaboration and environment. The transparent geodesic dome creates a unique relationship between audience, artist and landscape, transforming performances as daylight fades into the Baltic evening. Across two days, live electronics, electroacoustic compositions, audiovisual installations and exploratory club sounds come together in an intimate setting designed for both deep listening and shared discovery.
Now firmly established as a fixture on the Nordic cultural calendar, Kokong continues to offer an alternative vision of what a contemporary electronic music festival can be. By combining ambitious curation with a remarkable location and a strong focus on artistic exchange, the festival provides an experience where nature, technology and experimental music exist in equal measure, inviting audiences to discover one of Northern Europe’s most unique destinations for immersive electronic culture.
