Dance Spirit return after six years with sophomore album ‘Lunatic’

Now available via the duo’s independent imprint Koukan.

Dance Spirit have returned with their sophomore album, ‘Lunatic,’ which is available now via their independent imprint Koukan. The 11-track release arrives six years after its original completion in Los Angeles.

The duo, comprising Christopher Mohn and Reagan Denius, previously released their debut album ‘The Sun Also Rises.’ This new LP reflects a period of personal and creative transformation, marking the pair’s reconciliation and continued independence through their label.

“The album represents the culmination of Chris and my 12 years of working together as collaborators,” says Denius. “It’s almost autobiographical of our journey—the ups and downs, the patience and careful attention to detail. Love, hate, confusion, anger, sadness, but also beauty, hope and redemption. It’s the gamut of emotions that make us human.”

Conceived as a complete listening journey, the record combines modular experimentation, detailed percussion, and melodic sound design. Tracks like ‘Tranquilized & Hypnotized’ and ‘Street Prophet’ incorporate downtempo elements and rolling basslines, while ‘Ceremony’ shifts toward progressive house and melodic techno.

The project was entirely self-produced using modular synthesizers and drum machines. Each track is paired with original visual works by Purdy Lites, extending the release into a multimedia audiovisual experience.
