Patrick Mason has released ‘Hood Dub 7’, his debut solo single on his own MASONICS imprint. The track marks the first offering from his forthcoming three-track ‘Glory’ EP.
The production reinterprets Paranoid London’s ‘Paris Dub 1’, drawing on Mason’s early experiences in Berlin’s underground club scene.
“‘Hood Dub 7’ is my love letter to Berlin, paying homage to my early days at Berghain. ‘Paris Dub 1’ was one of the first techno tracks I really connected with, and I wanted to capture that same feeling I had when I first heard it, but twist it into something more contemporary, dark and rooted in my own experiences,” says Patrick Mason.
Built around rolling percussion, a dubbed-out bassline, minimal kicks, and atmospheric synths, the track also features Mason’s own vocals, introducing a more personal dimension to his production work.
The release forms part of a broader creative direction for MASONICS, an imprint conceived to connect underground music’s history with contemporary artistic experimentation.
The label also hosted an Amsterdam Dance Event showcase at Lofi on October 21st, bringing together Laure Croft, Yasmin Regisford, Shinedoe, and DJ Rush, alongside a commissioned performance from Soraya Schulthess and her DANCÆ collective.
