Ste Roberts explores fractured club forms on ‘Ey Aye’

The four-track release moves through mutant house, techno, electro, and IDM influences.

Ste Roberts debuts on Cyphon Recordings with  ‘Ey Aye’, a four-track record exploring machine rhythms, synthetic environments, and fractured dancefloor structures.

Across the past two decades, Roberts’ productions have drawn from house, techno, electro, IDM, and experimental electronic music. The new release continues that approach through unconventional sound design, off-kilter grooves, and a balance between dancefloor functionality and experimentation.

Opening track ‘There’s a Schizophrenic In Our Park’ pairs a weighty bassline with psychedelic textures, robotic vocal fragments, warped sound design, and stripped-back drums. ‘Queen Bee (Live Version)’ follows with primitive drum machines, unstable oscillators, subterranean bass tones, and mechanical repetition.

On ‘Ey Aye’, Roberts shifts toward Detroit-inspired futurism through mechanical rhythms, evolving textures, and alien atmospheres. Closing track ‘Lemon Top’ draws from early-’90s IDM and ambient techno, combining distant melodies, fractured electro rhythms, and mournful chords.
