DESIREE and Emmanuel Jal unveil ‘Macho’ music video

DESIREE and Emmanuel Jal have released the official music video for ‘Macho,’  their multilingual collaboration released last month via Ninja Tune.

Directed by Thabang Moabelo and filmed in Kilifi, Kenya, the video places both artists across the landscapes of East Africa while reflecting the track’s themes of connection and cultural exchange.

Named after the Swahili word for “eyes”, ‘Macho’ features Emmanuel Jal performing across Kiswahili, Nuer, Arabic, and English. The collaboration connects his international background with DESIREE’s South African roots and club-focused production.

The video arrives ahead of DESIREE’s headline show at London’s KOKO on September 26th, 2026, described as her biggest UK headline performance to date. Benji B and Charisse C will join the event as special guests. Grab your tickets here.
