Red Axes make their debut on 20:20 Vision with the ‘Red Box’ EP, the first in a series of three releases recorded for the label by Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik.
Active since 2010, the duo have developed an approach that moves between disco, indie, techno, house, electro-funk, dub, and psychedelic electronics. Their previous releases have appeared across labels including Permanent Vacation, Crosstown Rebels, Dark Entries, Phantasy Sound, and Fabric.
The release opens with ‘Red Box’, pairing bleep-and-bass elements with snares, jackin’ hats, and tape-delay processing. ‘Eko’ moves into deeper territory around the repeated phrase “Fear to Change,” while Random Factor reworks the title track with a stripped-back arrangement of synth layers and melancholic melodies. Closing track ‘FTS’ combines granulated vocals, chopped breakbeats, and an electro-pop theme.
