Rolasoul, the project of Simon James and Adam Helal, joins the EG Spotlight series with EG SPOTLIGHT.342, presenting a live-recorded session shaped with FX and spanning progressive house and deeper electronic sounds.
James first gained wider recognition after winning Mixmag’s DJ competition, leading to appearances at Hard Times, The Haçienda, Cream, Ministry of Sound, and Renaissance. Across his career, he has shared lineups with Todd Terry, Roger Sanchez, John Digweed, and Pete Tong, while performing internationally in Ibiza, New York, Australia, and beyond.
Helal’s background spans production, live performance, and studio work. His early production credits included a remix of Candi Staton’s ‘You Got the Love’ for Truelove Records, followed by work across house and garage. He later played bass with The Fall, contributing to ‘The Marshall Suite’ and ‘The Unutterable’.
Working together from Tileyard in London, James and Helal created Rolasoul as an outlet built around personal identity, instinct, and musical freedom. Following the response to their ‘Balance Selections’ mix, the duo now joins Electronic Groove for EG SPOTLIGHT.342.
Across the tracklist, Rolasoul brings together music from Tiefstone, Sean Harvey, Zuccasam, Luzon, William Orbit, Gowzer, Trilucid, and Phil Martyn, alongside unreleased selections and their own ‘No Going Back’ featuring Sasha Loona.
