Shane One and Shiny Objects have released ‘Spooky Dookie’ via Om Records. Originally recorded during a studio session in 2015, the track remained unreleased for 11 years before arriving in 2026.
The collaboration brings together Shiny Objects, the production alias of Om Records founder Chris Smith, and Shane One, also known as Shane Duryea, whose work includes productions with PillowTalk.
Initially developed as an experiment, the track combines a rubbery synthesizer bassline, marimba-like chimes, and minimal house percussion. A vocal introduction featuring Vincent Price reinforces its Halloween theme, although the seasonal connection was not part of the original plan.
“We had no intention of making a Halloween track, of course,” explains Chris Smith. “But we always thought it had a spooky vibe and only recently decided to lean into that.”
The decision to release the recording came after the two artists played back-to-back at a friend’s wedding reception in August 2026.
“Chris and I were going back-to-back. It was a very special occasion at about 4 am—this is when Spooky Dookie usually makes an appearance. And though we have played it a bunch over the years, this time it felt right. We decided to put it out,” says Shane One.
Following that performance, the pair returned to the track to complete its final vocal elements, turning a long-running private favorite into an official release.
