Takuya Nakamura has released his new single ‘Shape The Future’, featuring South London vocalist Greentea Peng. The collaboration is the title track from his forthcoming double album, which will arrive through fabric records in two chapters.

The single combines rattling sub-bass, dynamic breaks, electronic textures, and Nakamura’s trumpet playing with Greentea Peng’s vocals. It follows ‘Broken Jazz’, his previous collaboration with Tim Reaper.

The first chapter of ‘Shape The Future’ features studio recordings and collaborations with Greentea Peng, Shigeto, Tim Reaper, and Currency Audio. It will be released digitally on October 29th, 2026, with vinyl editions following on November 12th. The second chapter documents a live performance recorded at fabric, combining DJing, live electronics, vocals, and trumpet. It will be released digitally and on vinyl on November 12th.

The project arrives almost 35 years into Nakamura’s musical journey. Born in Tokyo and based in New York, the musician studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston under George Russell, before discovering jungle in the early 1990s. His subsequent work has brought together jazz improvisation, electronic production, and club music.

Throughout his career, Nakamura has performed with David Byrne, Terry Riley, Laurie Anderson, Lee “Scratch” Perry, GZA, and Arto Lindsay, among others. He has also remixed material by Quincy Jones, Sun Ra, Billie Holiday, and The Streets.

Alongside the album, Nakamura has scheduled an international tour spanning North America, Europe, and Australia throughout the final months of 2026, including appearances at London’s EartH, Amsterdam’s Melkweg, and San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom.

Agrabah – Lock Your Dreads – Doblado Records

There is something fitting about Agrabah arriving at dub without treating it as a destination. Across ‘Lock Your Dreads,’ the Brazilian producer uses it more like a point of departure, allowing its bass weight, spatial effects, and rhythmic looseness to collide with trance, house, percussion, and different strains of club music. That approach makes sense…
