Tom VR has released his third studio album, ‘Don’t Know How Fast I’m Moving Until I Hit Something.’  The London-based producer and composer developed the full-length project through a continuous dialogue between his studio production and live stage performances.

The record balances driving club energy with ambient textures across tracks like the techno-focused title piece, the melodic cuts ‘Unlocked Love and Uplift! (Butterfly),’ and introspective compositions including ‘Little New Heart.’ Lead single ‘Mag Fields’ originated from live loops and features an onstage improvisation recorded during Magnetic Fields Festival in India.

“It came from recognising this constant tendency of mine to move forward rapidly without stopping, often resulting in periods of burnout. I was just always on, always pushing myself further and further, almost completely in cruise control, like I was in the passenger seat. Then major things happen in your life. You hit something. Moments of chaos and uncertainty, moments of sheer joy and elation — they hit like whiplashes in opposite directions. Instead of moving through it all blindly, I started to acknowledge each thing for what it was and frame them all as one well-rounded experience,” the artist commented.

The project extends into an audiovisual universe inspired by filmmaker Pen Densham’s photography, incorporating custom 3D environments. Tom VR previously staged virtual performances inside Fortnite and Minecraft, alongside collaborations exhibited at London’s Barbican Centre and Outernet.

‘Don’t Know How Fast I’m Moving Until I Hit Something’  is available now. Stream and download here.
