Back then, strictly on vinyl, he first moved toward Hip Hop and Soul. A memorable night in the nineties – a showcase by the cult label Strictly Rhythm at the Docks – was the trigger for the genre switch to Housemusic. Driven by role models such as Armand van Helden, David Morales, Frankie Knuckles & Co., his style changed. Nevertheless, deejaying always remained a hobby. Occasional gigs in clubs, bookings as well as a residency in a Hamburg club were sufficient. His professional career as a copywriter took priority. Since 2012, deejaying has climbed higher on the list of priorities. The sound has also developed: nowadays birkenlauber's sets are a skillful mixture of punchy Deep House, gritty Tech House as well as straight Techno and range from 118 to 130 BPM. With remixes for various artists, birkenlauber drew attention as a producer for the first time. Under the project name MOB MOB on the British label Kingdom Kome Cuts, his first EP followed. Further releases followed, among others, on Audio Safari and Clubland Records.
