Techno producer Harvey McKay dies

The Scottish artist leaves behind a long-standing legacy across the global techno scene.

Scottish DJ and producer Harvey McKay has passed away, according to statements shared by collaborators and labels across the electronic music community.

Best known for his releases on labels including Drumcode, Cocoon, Soma, Second State, Uncage, Kneaded Pains, and Breaking New Soil, McKay built a reputation for his driving and functional approach to techno, becoming a respected figure within the international circuit over the past decade.

In a tribute shared online, Drumcode described McKay’s work as “a powerful and distinctive sound that left a lasting mark on the label and the wider techno scene,” adding that his music, energy, and presence “will not be forgotten.”

Originally from Glasgow, McKay performed at clubs and festivals around the world throughout his career, including Space Ibiza during its final 2016 season, Awakenings, Rotterdam Rave, Ultra Music Festival, and Space Miami. He also reached four techno number one records and multiple Top 10 chart positions across his discography.
