His recent collaboration with HUGEL adds another chapter to a career built around connecting with audiences through rhythm and movement.

With performances spanning Ibiza, London, New York, Miami, and Burning Man, Hoomance has built a connection with different dance music communities while maintaining his interest in groove-driven productions.

His collaboration with HUGEL, ‘Love’, has reached one million streams on Spotify, alongside a Top 10 position on Beatport’s Tech House Releases chart.

In this conversation with EG, Hoomance discusses the collaboration, his relationship with Ibiza, the influences behind his sound, and the importance of understanding the dancefloor.

EG: Hi Hoomance, welcome to Electronic Groove. It’s great to have you with us. How have you been, and how are you feeling about everything happening around the project at the moment?

Hoomance: Hello guys, thank you for having me! I’ve been really good. There’s a lot happening, and it feels good to see things I’ve been working toward slowly coming together. I’m trying to take a moment to appreciate it all while still making time for the studio. There’s always something I want to finish or improve, but I’m enjoying the process.

EG: Your collaboration with HUGEL has just reached some significant milestones, including a Top 10 position on Beatport’s Tech House Releases chart. What has the response to the track been like from your side?

Hoomance: It’s been really encouraging. Seeing ‘Love’ reach a million streams on Spotify was a special moment for me. You spend so much time with a track before it comes out that you almost lose perspective on it, so seeing it reach people is a good feeling. The chart positions are something I’m proud of, of course, but playing it and seeing people connect with it makes it feel real.

EG: The collaboration brings together HUGEL’s festival-oriented approach with a sound that comes from a more underground space. How did you find the balance between those two perspectives when you were making the track?

Hoomance: We weren’t thinking too much about festival or underground sounds, just what felt natural for the track. The balance came from keeping it simple and giving each element enough space to do its job.

EG: You’ve built a particularly strong connection with Ibiza over the years, to the point where it feels less like somewhere you visit and more like part of your musical home. What is it about the island that continues to draw you back?

Hoomance: Ibiza does feel like home now. A lot of friendships and important moments in my musical life happened there, so the connection goes much further than the shows. I still love that I can go out and hear a DJ take a direction I wasn’t expecting and leave with new ideas. Then there’s the quieter side of the island, which I need just as much. Having both is what keeps me coming back.

EG: You’ve played very different environments there, from Bedouin’s Saga at Pacha to Nocturna, Akasha, and Chinois. How does moving between those spaces change the way you approach a set?

Hoomance: Each club in Ibiza has its own identity, but a lot also comes down to who’s hosting the night, which Artist has the residency, and the musical direction they’ve built. I keep that in mind when I prepare my music, so I can bring my own taste while fitting into the night.

EG: Your sound sits somewhere between tech grooves, tribal rhythms and indie-leaning house, but there’s also a strong sense of ritual and physicality running through it. Where does that instinct come from?

Hoomance: I think it comes from what makes me move when I’m on the dancefloor myself. A good bassline and the way the drums interact can hold my attention for a long time. I love when a groove gets you locked in, and even a small change makes a difference. That’s something I look for in the music I play and produce, a rhythm you can settle into, with enough detail to keep you curious.

EG: You’ve described places like Ibiza, London, New York, Miami and Burning Man as important influences on your musical development. What have you taken from moving between those different scenes and cultures?

Hoomance: Each place has its own clubbing culture, and over the years, I’ve learned a lot through the people I’ve met—DJs, producers, artists, event organizers, and people who are involved in making all these great events. Whether it’s Halloween in New York, Art Basel in Miami, the long summers in Ibiza, London’s underground clubs, or Burning Man, those settings bring so many creative people together. The friendships, conversations, and music we share have all influenced my taste and opened doors along the way.

EG: There’s also an interesting crossover in your career between underground club culture and environments like Art Basel. What happens to your music when it enters spaces that aren’t traditionally built around the dancefloor?

Hoomance: The scene has changed a lot. House music has grown so much, and it’s become more connected with other creative worlds, from visual art to fashion. As a DJ, adapting to those settings, I enjoy it. Preparing for a different kind of gig makes me dig deeper into my collection and explore parts of my taste that don’t always come out in a club. It’s about finding what fits the atmosphere while still showing who I am musically.

EG: You’ve said that, whether you’re playing a desert sunrise or a late-night club, the intention is ultimately to create a moment that connects people beyond language. Has your understanding of what makes that connection changed after more than a decade behind the decks?

Hoomance: Yes, I think over time I’ve learned to listen to the room more and be patient. You can love a track, but knowing when to play it makes a big difference. Sometimes people need more energy, and sometimes they’re already locked into a groove, and you just need to let it breathe. Playing in different settings has taught me that you don’t need familiar lyrics or a big drop to connect.

EG: You have a busy stretch ahead, with Ibiza dates, London shows and then Asia, including stops in Phuket and Bali. Do you approach a run like that as one continuous musical journey, or does each place require something different from you?

Hoomance: Before every gig, I go through new music, pick out what I like, and add it to my playlists. So I always have something fresh to play, including some of my own unreleased tracks. The musical direction stays consistent with my taste, but each set has its own journey.

EG: Thank you so much for your time. We wish you all the best with the upcoming shows, new music, and everything ahead. Take care!

Hoomance: Thank you for having me! It’s been a pleasure, and thanks to everyone supporting the music. Hope to see you on a dancefloor soon!
